Ras Mohammed is
an entirely underwater National Park, it is at the extreme tip
of the Sinai peninsula where the Red Sea splits into the two
waterways of the Gulf of Suez to the west and the Gulf of Aqaba
to the east.
It is easily one
of the richest underwater habitats in the whole of the Red Sea.
No development or facilities are allowed on shore so they don't
pollute the marine environment by any kind of run-off, so
snorkellers and divers must arrive by boat or by road. These
pictures are taken from a day snorkelling-trip boat and show the
floating rafts of snorkellers from other boats and the serried
ranks of mini-buses that bring divers and snorkellers down to
Ras Mohammed from the hotels along the coast in and around Sharm
el Sheikh.
